FAQ

Everything you might want to know before — and after — your flute arrives. Don't see your question here? Get in touch and we're happy to help.

What are your flutes made of?

Our flutes are 3D-printed from high-quality, eco-friendly, plant-based PLA (PLA+), each one reproducing a design that's been tuned to true pitch. PLA is made from renewable plant material rather than petroleum, and we deliberately avoid animal-based materials, so every flute is something you can feel good about playing.

Are they durable?

Yes. Plant-based PLA+ is tough and holds its shape well at everyday temperatures. The one thing to avoid is leaving a flute somewhere very hot — a closed car on a summer day, a sunny dashboard, or right against a heater — since high heat can soften the material. Treat it kindly and it will last for years.

How are they tuned?

Here's the part we're proudest of: the tuning is solved once, in the design. We refine each flute against a chromatic tuner until its pitch and voice are exactly right — then precision 3D printing reproduces that exact geometry, so every flute we make shares the same true, even tuning across its range. No hand-tuning, and no flute-to-flute drift.

I've never played before. Can I learn on one of these?

Absolutely — our flutes are a wonderful place to start. They speak easily, they're forgiving of a new player's breath, and you don't need to read music to enjoy one. We include simple guidance to get you playing your first notes within minutes.

Which flute or key should I choose?

If you're after a bright, expressive voice for melodies, a soprano is a great first flute. If you want something deeper and more meditative — lovely for relaxation, sound-healing, and ambient playing — an alto or bass will feel right at home. Still unsure? Tell us what you're drawn to and we'll point you to the right one.

How do I care for my flute?

Wipe it down now and then, let it dry fully before storing, and keep it out of extreme heat. A little moisture from playing is completely normal — just shake it out and let it air. No oils or special treatments needed.

Can it get wet?

Light moisture is no problem — it's a wind instrument, after all. We just don't recommend soaking it or running it through a dishwasher. A damp cloth is all it takes to keep it clean.

Do you make custom flutes?

We do, when the schedule allows. If you have something special in mind — a particular key, finish, or engraving — send us a note and we'll see what we can do.

How long until my flute ships?

Most orders ship within 7 business days, and you'll get a tracking number by email as soon as your label is printed. See our Shipping Policy for the full details.

What if it's not the right fit?

You have 30 days to return a flute in new condition for a refund or exchange. Our Returns & Exchanges page walks you through how.
